Our Story

"Working with Curt Iden through our multi-year multi-phased extraordinarily complex project was a joy. Curt is as he appears, an old school honest, high integrity craftsman. His creativity, quality of workmanship and commitment to long term follow up are unequaled. However you try to categorize his capabilities, he is the best."
- David R., Bucks County, PA

"First of all, I love the old barns of our past here in the countryside of Vermont to Pennsylvania. When a barn is on the block and must come down to make way for the land's new use or the farmer simply cannot afford the maintenance of an obsolete structure, I treasure the responsibility of saving the structure and its integrity of hand wrought joinery. To this end Iden Barn Homes was born." - Curtis L. Iden

Green Building Practices

Our work, by its very nature, preserves and reuses old structures and materials and is therefore conserving of lumber and trees. Much of the wood we are privileged to work with is a century or more old, and is impossible to replace with new materials. We have so little waste that most projects don’t even require a dumpster. We respect the site as we do the buildings we recycle, and we design for efficiency as well as beauty, in some cases using natural materials such as straw bale. Most of our sources are local. We invite Green projects.

Where We'll Go

We have locations in Maine/New England, Pennsylvania, and California and have completed projects in CA, NJ, NY, PA, and VT. We can reconstruct and convert barns anywhere in the United States. Cost of travel and shipping will be quoted on a per site-request basis.
